Tennett Tree Service was established in 1945, owned and operated by Norman Tennett. The company did a lot of residential work, but at that time, primarily worked for Connecticut Light & Power. In 1955, Mr. Tennett passed away and the company continued on with his wife, Elizabeth Tennett, and his son-in-law Frederick Borders at the helm. Eventually the company was sold to Frederick and his wife Nancy (Tennett) Borders.
In 1976, The Borders sold the company to Prescott and Bernice Baxter. Prescott (Pep) started working with Tennett Tree Service in 1951. The Baxter’s still own and operate the company, working hand in hand with Tony Wilber, Tennett’s General Foreman. Tony started at Tennett Tree Service in 1981, and shortly after, joined Pep in becoming a Connecticut Licensed Arborist.
The company has grown considerably since 1945, now having 30 employees with several of these employees having 30+ years of experience in tree work with Tennett Tree Service. Our expertise in tree care and dedication to safety and customer satisfaction, has led us to become a contractor for several clients throughout Connecticut including Eversource Energy, Frontier Communications, several municipalities and local residential work.
